Hi everybody. It's Chris Fyick, the director of the National House of Prayer, coming to you today from Ottawa. A couple weeks ago, about a month ago, we we put out a publication about um Damian Kirk, you know, giving up his seat so that Pierre Paul uh can run. And we made a comment uh I think Marilyn was writing the the the prayer points for that and she and she put this verse in there. No greater love is this except a man lay lay down his life for a friend. Jesus spoke in metaphors all the time especially about a surrendered life. And if you're going to be an intercessor or a person of prayer, I don't like to use the word intercessor too much because we're all supposed to pray. And the
apostle Paul tells us that we pray all kinds of prayers and intercessions. So, so I if we are a people of prayer and since we are obedient to the word of the Lord, we're going to be people of prayer. And uh and so I I want to talk about the metaphor of dying daily. You know, Luke chapter 9 talks about Jesus says, "If you want to follow me, you have to take up your cross and follow me daily." You know, that's a metaphor of a life that is surrendered. That a life that says, "Not my will, but yours be done." Romans 12, Romans 12 is one of my most favorite chapters. Romans chap 12:1 talks about being living sacrifices, holy, acceptable to God, which is our reasonable act of work worship. It's
reasonable. God is saying, you know, to crawl up on this altar daily, this is reasonable. This is not far-fetched. This is normal that we live lives that are sacrificial, obedient to God. I'm in right now in my mind, there's a song, this Brian Dirkson song that's coming through my mind called Refinder's Fire. My heart's desire is to be holy, ready to do your will. And so I want to encourage you today to take up your cross daily and follow Jesus. Jesus says if you want to follow me, it's going to require you to do this daily. And it was interesting in the context of that uh Luke 9, they had just come from amazing times. He had just released them into signs and
wonders and miracles and they just released them into the into the into Cavern Galilee. That's where it all started. I can still see it in my mind cuz we were there a few weeks ago. He just released them and said, "You can do these things." But if you want to do these things, it requires a daily walk of surrender, a daily walk of walking and listening to the Lord. A daily walk of being in the secret place. And we're going to get into the secret place in this coming fall in one of our schools. into the secret place. What does that look like? What does that sound like? How does that fit your regular daily life? How does this work? We are called to be living sacrifices,
wholly acceptable to God, which is our reasonable act of worship. Taking up your cross daily is reasonable. You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your s strength. This is reasonable to God. I'm Chris Fber, the director of the National House of Prayer, and we will see you next time. Bye for now. [Music]
