[Music] hello again well here we are in September approaching the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah Yom Kippur and the fasting has begun we see this from many many streams I hope your fasting fasting should be a regular part of a prayer warriors life so I want to encourage you as we come into this new season the new freshness this new year the head of the year that we come in with a posture to Humble ourselves which is awesome we should do this all the time but I want to talk to you today a little bit out of Isaiah 58 I'm kind of an Isaiah 58 kind of guy I've been this way for about 30 years you know I enjoy fasting well I don't really enjoy fasting to tell you the

truth but I do it and that's not to be boastful or anything like that I I I I just do it because it's it sharpens my vision and and tunes my hearing but I want to talk to you about Isaiah 58 I'm going to read predominantly from this and let it speak to you I really can preach a long time on this but I only have about four minutes so here we go I'm going to read this to you and let it just wash over you and speak to your heart so here we go Isaiah 58 out of verse 6. is this not the kind of fasting I've chosen to loose the chains of Injustice and untie the cords of the Yoke and set the oppressed free and break every yoke is it not to share your food with the

hungry and to provide the poor wandering with shelf with shelter when you see the naked to clothe them and not turn away from your very own flesh and blood then your light will break forth like the Dawn and your healing will appear quickly then your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard then you will call and the Lord will answer and you will cry for help and he will say here am I if you do away with the Yoke of Oppression with the pointing of the finger and malicious talk and you spend yourself on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed then your light will rise in darkness and your night will become like noon day

the Lord will guide you always and he will satisfy your needs and his son scorched land we've had a lot of places very very Sun scorched this year and will strengthen your frame you will be like a well-watered garden like a spring whose water never fails your people your people will reboot rebuild ancient ruins and will raise up age-old foundations you will be called repairer of Broken Walls restore of streets with dwellings isn't that powerful so as we come into this this head of the Year this new year I want to encourage you to to keep your eyes open to the poor in Canada it appears we are in a pandemic of homelessness you can go any City and you see them you go to small cities and there's

homelessness here and it's important that we don't turn our eye away from it and it's important we don't turn our eye to the point we say well this is the government's problem or it's somebody else's problem and it starts that's neighborhood's problem it's important that we engage when we see things you know in terms of human trafficking again you know you're going to hear us talk about this quite a bit the 401 which is a Highway near us about 45 minutes away from me uh it is the world's most trafficked Highway there is more trafficking that takes place human trafficking that takes place on that Highway than Bangkok Thailand think of that house how absurd right

here right here in Canada and so we need to be praying and pressing into that we need to be aware of this we need to be those intercessors standing on the wall praying and singing songs of Deliverance for those for those men and women that are trapped in those places you know in in terms of food banks they are they are now perpetually bare from what I understand last week listening to the Ottawa uh City Mission in Ottawa Food Bank they are perpetually bare and uh so so it is our place as the people of God to care about the poor the poor are very important to the Lord so as we go into fasting I want to encourage you is this the fast that I called you to to set

captives free to feed the poor to release from bondage those that are oppressed just think about it my name is Chris beiberg I'm the director of the national House of Prayer and I'll see you next time bye now foreign [Music]
