hi everybody it's Chris bber the director of the national House of Prayer coming to you today from Ottawa wow what an exciting week here it is today is February 1 so we are expecting some interesting news perhaps you know in my mind I hear the tariffs are coming the tffs are coming and so many of us are a little concerned some are a whole lot concerned and there's and we should be concerned because you know it feels because we're in prorogation it feels like we're without a rhetoric this time and uh so it it feels kind of ambiguous and you know we're it's could we could be worried and we don't want to be in that place of where we want to cast our cares on the

Lord because he cares for us but I want to talk to you today about your ministry you know last week I was talking about you know uh we're in a shift season and we're ready to go so exactly what is your ministry many I get a lot of I you know I've been a pastor for many many years and worked in government as well and uh and so a lot of times people are asking me so what's my Ministry because you know you have a Ministry each and every one of us have a Ministry it's just not your pastor in your local church or somebody that teaches Sunday school or whatever everybody has a Ministry every part of the body is functioning as the body of Christ to be the body of Christ on the earth and that

means we have a function so uh so what does that mean actually there are all of us have about four spheres some of us more spheres more spheres than four spheres um but most of us have about four spheres in our life where we have influence or matron these are the areas in our life that we're kind of uh at hand we can do something about them right so the four spheres are your family most of us have a family and so there's a family there's a sphere of influence there are these are this can be our ministry my family not only is what I do here at National House of Prayer that's a part of the ministry that I do but a big part of the ministry that I have is my family number two my

job so here my job is is National House of Prayer and so this is where we work um a lot of hours a lot of days and it's actually the best most fun job I've ever had and so so but this is our ministry and this is how we work and so um the job is really important so you have a job and some of you might be retired you say what well well I'm retired I don't really have a job but so where are you putting your hand during the course of the day where what are you doing so some of you are volunteering some of you are praying some of you are doing uh other things you know that's part of the ministry where your involvement during the course of the day number three local

church yes of course we're connected with our local church and that's Ministry too so some of us are plugged into Ministry at our churches and some of us are just congregants and stuff but you have a Ministry because you're a part of the body and you need to be connecting and and moving with that body to minister to the community and number four is your neighborhood that is part of your ministry right I build relationships with my neighbors I get to know them I always and I've been saying this like for over 40 years you are the pastor of your street so you're the ministry it's kind of like the parable of the talents you know we know those Parables one was given 10 one was given

one two you know the story and what they did with them was important are you going to bury those things are you going to use them to the glory of God are you to use them for Kingdom purposes so Jesus said this he said this is really important that I only do what I see the father doing and I only say what I hear him saying and you know what that is what prayer is all about prayer is not just exclusively us rattling off a list God our our wish list it is actually us listening and watching for the father in all aspects of our lives and doing what he's doing and saying what he's saying say I want to tell you a story so uh we collaborate with a few Ministries on the hill on

Parliament Hill and it's a joy so uh back in the spring we were helping another Ministry called Christian Embassy and they we come alongside as helpers that's what we do we don't have to be the boss of everything in fact it is really good for us to be in a place of servanthood so we love to serve them and so Maryland helps with with uh registration and guess what I'm a greeter H because can you tell I like that and so I get to greet the uh the ambassadors and staffers and MPS as they come to their events so um so on this particular day I was one of the last people to go to it was a lunch and I was one of the last people to arrive at the table because I was a greeter so you

know I was making sure people found their seats so I I get to my seat and I'm seated the speaker already speaking and I'm sitting at this table and I don't really get to know who's there because I wasn't there P beforehand and uh and so I'm listening to the speaker but you know what I realized that I need to put money in the meter uh cuz I was parked uh on the street in Ottawa and you don't want to get a ticket in Ottawa on the street because it's ridiculously expensive so I slipped out for you know 2 minutes and to put money in the meter and I came back and when I got back there was this guy sitting in my seat I eventually say to him excuse me sir you're seated in my

seat and he says oh I'm so sorry but the director of this particular M Ministry told me to sit here so I thought okay that's fair enough so I said to him where are you seated where did you come from what seat were you in he says I was over there at that table over there and I could see that there was a spot so I slipped over there sat down and then the speaker finished speaking was excellent speak and uh and so I'm listening to these diplomats and MPS at the table and uh like I said I'm late to the game so I I haven't been able to introduce myself to everybody so I'm coming in a little bit late and then holy spirit says something to me and he says I want you to say something to this

particular Ambassador and I thought oh my goodness okay and so I started to realize that with the kful with the mix up in seats that the Lord actually had a plan so I waited for an opport to talk to this Ambassador and I said your Excellency your country was very bold and courageous last weekend and that Ambassador looked at me it was a woman and she a wonderful woman and she just started to to tear up I can't tell you which country and uh and I can't tell you who but it was a very significant thing that had happened in in her nation and I said to her your country was very bold and courageous uh this past weekend and she starts to tear up and she says yes you know there are

there are a lot of external forces and it is miserable for my people and it's miserable for the entire region what's going on and then she says to me so by the way what do you do and I said oh my goodness this is such a good this is what I'm thinking I thinking oh fantastic so I said to her well I'm the director of The National House of Prayer and we our organization you guys we pray for leaders and those in Authority all over Canada and she says well do you pray in other countries and I said well you know we we concentrate on Canada for the most part and so this is our sphere of influence this is our territory our domain our our matron is Canada but there are other places that other people

that pray for for other countries and she says do you think you could come to my country and pray for my people so you could see that this was a complete setup so we ended up having a 45 minute to an hour conversation about her country and about what it was and we were invited to come to her country the reason why I'm saying this is that you have a Ministry and if you're listening all the time that's what prayer is pray without ceasing not just the list but Thanksgiving supplication intercession all these kinds of prayers all the time for everybody what's with uh Second Timothy says so we're listening to the father we're watching what he's doing we're listening to to what he's saying

and we say what he says things happen so I want to encourage you be the captain of your ship be the captain of your ship whether it's in your family your job your neighborhood and your local church be engaged watching what the father is doing saying what he says that's the ministry and on that I will say to you remember every day is the National Day of Prayer and I'm Chris fber the director bye for now [Music]
