hi everybody it's Chris bber the director of the national House of Prayer coming to you today from the most exciting Place Ottawa what a an interesting weekend it has been Donald Trump has declared 25% tariffs over Canada and this has caused a big Scurry everybody's in a bit of a Kur fuffle and we're all scrambling it's seems like I could talk last week I talked about being feeling a little bit rudderless and uh and so you know it seems like we've got a lot on the line and uh and there's so much coming at us that it feels like we're drinking from a fire hostes but I want to say this you know there are uh a lot of threats a lot of people are are concerned about the
threats that we as a nation are feeling you know there's a lot of things on the table right now you know of course there's these sheriffs and Donald Trump and and uh so we feel that that's a big threat to us we're feeling really threatened especially when he says you know keeps talking about 51st state that's threatening and then there's the you know recently just the just uh uh 10 days or so ago we we heard about the the hog report and uh and foreign interference and some are saying it's bigger uh Madame H says it's not that big of a deal but yet there are a bunch of things so there a lot of threats and then there's another thing in the in the news that talks about yeah you know
Canada potentially having a prime minister that wasn't even elected never went had never saw an election anywhere and so there's people are saying oh this is terrible we got all this stuff and there's all this thing that are just these swirls of threats all over the nation but I'll tell you what the biggest threat to Canada is are you ready it's a prayerless church that's the biggest threat the fact that uh we can be prayerless I remember back in 2008 20 about 2008 um I was in prayer and the Holy Spirit spoke these words to me very very uh sternly it was one of the sternest things that he'd ever said to me and he said Chris you don't care he said these words no prayer no care
and you know I want to encourage the body of Christ to come back to that place of prayer pastors come back into that place the Apostle Paul you know in in the book of Acts they said set aside Paul and Silas so they could preach the word give themselves to prayer and the word and so I would encourage you as a nation to come back into that place of prayer and that means in the word because if you're in prayer you're in the word and you know so often you know I hear this Across the Nation I hear I get to visit many many churches and and You' be surprised how many churches don't even have prayer meetings they don't even have prayer meetings you'd be surprised that uh or they might have
something that is like 15 minutes 10 minutes before Sunday morning service and they have a little bit of prayer meeting and they think that's a prayer meeting you know if prayer is not a priority it becomes way down it's like this you know I talk to many pastors and I I say these things to the pastors I said pastors I said uh I was in a meeting just a little while ago 70 Pastors in the room and I said this I said so if you if you call a prayer meeting you'll get maybe 2% if that of your congregation that will come to pray 2% can you identify with that 2% and this is what church life is often like so we will shoot for Sunday morning which is awesome you know
and the big focus is getting that word right that preach get the first thing the preach is good the worship team need has to be nice and shiny the harmonies have got to be good the smoke machines need to work everybody looks got to look great Sunday school's got to be really good we want to have great stuff for our kids these are all good things and we got we want to have the seniors in there got a good missions program let's and then we got to have uh and we go list and L and then this is what we do and then some somewhere down here we put prayer and Jesus said this my house will be a house of prayer for all nations I know he was talking to money changers
and stuff but he got that from Isaiah 56 he got that from Isaiah 56 and in Isaiah 56 if you look at the context he is inviting the heart you see the heart of the Lord that the entire world can come into his house and be a House of Prayer even those that were physically disqualified were invited to come into his house to be a house of prayer for all nations and then Isaiah 56 talks about Watchmen that are sleeping and we don't want to be Watchmen that are sleeping we want to be Watchmen that are wide awake so often and this is this is the challenge of praying for government and leaders and things like that because we often wait until the enemy is at the door
knocking and where we as Watchmen are watching on the horizon and watching for things coming and that's our role that's our role as everybody because in everything give thanks pray without ceasing and rejoice ever more 1 Timothy 2 and I say this all the time praying for everybody all kinds of prayers that uh for kings and those in Authority that we live peaceful and godly lives this is good it pleases God if we are in prayer it pleases God this is so important and it tells us why that all men and women will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth I want to read this to you and encourage you with a Apostolic prayer from Romans 5 15 and let me just read this to you I sound good I know
there's Romans 1513 May the god of Hope fill you with all hope joy and peace and your powered by the holy that's I love that one that's one of my favorites but listen to this here May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus so so that with one heart and one mouth you may glorify the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ if we are a people of prayer and we are in the word we know these things we see these things we pray the word we watch what the father is doing we listen to what he's saying and we do what he's doing one one of my favorite prayers is Lord give us eyes to see ears to hear and courage to do what
you're saying and and we and the place where we find that is in prayer those instructions that we get for every day remember I shared this last week you're in the ministry so every day we are getting the game plan and from the father every day and that the god of encouragement and endurance will bring us together in unity so that we with one voice in Canada speak and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ so I hope that's encouraging I'm Chris fber the director of the national House of Prayer and remember every day is the National Day of Prayer bye for now [Music]
