"I had a great visit this past week from some Canadian friends!  A group from the National House of Prayer in Ottawa have spent the last 3 weeks “prayer-walking” across Israel.  On Monday they crossed the finish line into Jerusalem. It was a great encouragement to see some cherished friends, and be able to congratulate them on a successful journey.  They’ve headed to Eilat for a much deserved rest on the beach before heading back to Canada. Their visit reminded me of something written in Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  He writes, “The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” “It is true, of course, that what is an unspeakable gift of God for the lonely individual is easily disregarded and trodden under foot by those who have the gift every day” In other words, the presence of brothers and sisters in Christ is more precious than gold, but often disdained.  It’s true that we often don’t realize what we have until we lose it.  Many people (including myself) have forgotten the practice of thanking God for the “tiny and seemingly insignificant”, in favor of looking towards the “mighty miracles”.  We will value our respective communities (& families) when we begin to practice thankfulness as a continual lifestyle. Summed up… I’m thankful for friends & family; near and far.  They, along with Christ, are my constant encouragement." Shalom Jeremiah (To read more of his blogs check out his blogsite.)
