[Music] hey everybody it's Chris viberg the director of the national House of Prayer coming to you today from Ottawa well happy summer here we are right in the middle it's been a really wonderful time some some really concerning news for me today uh just came over the news wire about an hour ago the Prime Minister and his wife Sophie have separated and maybe some of you are really happy about that and maybe some of you are really sad me personally I'm kind of sad about that you know on this journey praying for leaders in government this is what I find I find When you pray for people um you start to care for people you know I remember back in 2008 the Holy Spirit spoke very very firmly to me
in regards and he said these words Chris no prayer no care and any and it resonated hit me right almost in the forehead it was it that's right if if I wasn't praying I wasn't caring no prayer no care and so when I came into the government a sphere of uh quite a few years ago I was very partisan I belonged to a particular party I was a I was a a writing Association a president I was also a VP I sat on a lot of boards it's always hyper partisan and uh and and in my Facebook page reflected that and you would see that and all these words started really convict me on what I was saying and what I was doing he said one thing that I had no idea would come to pass it was so relevant he says
Chris how can you put the things on the on your Facebook page how do you expect the prime minister to invite you to his office because he won't with the stuff that you say about him on the on the page and and it and it really was one of those things like no prayer no care and I had no idea we were going to be moving to the position of in-home and and so in true repentance I turned around I took off all the stuff out of my Facebook page and I changed directions so today I'm a little bit heavy-hearted because you know I've been praying for I prayed for prime minister as if he were my son and that's really really important that when we pray for our leaders we just
don't pray for them because of out of all ulterior motives or stuff that we want we pray for them because we actually care about them and we love them and you know today I'm I'm kind of sad that uh to see that the Prime Minister and his that his marriage has broken down and so I'm going to be praying for that and you know we pray on our Zoom calls often for the Prime Minister and his family uh and I want to encourage you you you all to do that pray for him as if he was your son pray for him as if he was your brother pray for him as if for if you were younger as if he was your father pray for him and hold them up before the Lord because you know again back to
First Timothy 2. that uh we're to pray for everybody Kings and those in this authorities that we live peaceful and godly lives um you know so often I hear people uh talk about that verse in problems in Proverbs that when the when the ungodly rule the righteous groan and you know what sometimes we need to groan and sometimes those groans need to be like groans of intercession I know it means grown as we're under anguished but I really think that the groaning that we have should be not based out of complaints but out of groaning the groans that the Holy Spirit would groan over individuals because Jesus is making intercession in heaven for you and I and we are seated
there and I want to be on the side of the Lord making intercession for people not being within the other adversary we also see the adversary at the Throne of God making accusation I don't want to be the accusation I want to be the intercession and I want to encourage you today you know in James 2 it talks about partiality or favoritism and too often we pray for leaders that we like and not so much leaders that we don't like or leaders that we agree with and not for leaders we disagree with it scripture doesn't tell us to do that you know in first Timothy first Samuel 23 Samuel says I'm going to paraphrase here because I just don't have it in front of me be it far from me that I should that
I will pray for you because if I don't pray for you it is a sin that I don't pray for you and Samuel was talking about Israel who chose a king over being led by the Lord but nevertheless Samuel's commitment to even though he disagreed with them was that he was still going to pray for them so I want to encourage you today be impartial don't show favoritism pray for your members even the ones you didn't vote for pray for them lift them up pray for leaders even the ones you don't like pray for them and lift them up because nothing happens unless we pray so I'm Chris byberg the director of the national House of Prayer and I'll see you next time bye for now [Music] thank you
