hi everybody it's Chris fber the director of the national House of Prayer coming to you today from Ottawa so um here we are uh past a couple three elections three provincial another one's on its way in in at the end of the month in Nova Scotia so that's like four and some some results were you may be happy with some you may be decide um sad or or upset I don't know uh but one thing about elections they they they are one thing that they give us is they tell you tell us the temperature of the of the nation and that's probably one of the biggest thing as far as data or that is concerned if you want to know what's going on in the heart of election uh heart of the nation is as you look at

what's going on in in in election results and it kind of tells us where we stand right kind of tells us which way Society wants to pull or wants to go or culture wants to go you know um Craig doer said this a couple weeks ago in our our School of prayer you know that uh that the government live is Downstream of culture and so basically they're going to do what's coming uh it's culture that actually impacts what go government where government wants to go and that's why it's important that that we are Salt and Light all the time it's why it's important that we we don't only pray for government when an election is called or when the RIT is dropped and so often we see that we see

people not paying attention and then they get in and then there's a crisis and then oh by golly we better be praying right now because we not might not want to get whatever that's in but by that time it might be too late and in many cases it isn't because we're we're we're not praying for Rel we're not praying for election results what we actually need to be praying for is heart change and heart change all the time changing in the heart of the culture it's it's like this so I'm me just read this from Matthew 6 yeah Matthew 5 rather you guys know this um it's about salt and life but I want to read this to you and I want to uh talk to you in terms of of sometimes how we handle this

right so here it is uh you are the salt of the earth but the salt loses but if salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men you are the light of the world a city on a hill cannot be hidden neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl instead they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house in the same way let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise God God your father in heaven isn't that good and so so often when especially comes around election and I kind of kind of this is my kind of my pet peeve was like people

I get I get Ministry say so what's the election strategy what are we praying for for the election it's like no we're not waiting for an election we're praying now we're praying always we're praying for culture change now we're praying for the kingdom to come now and not just wait for an election that would be like it would be very much like you know I I love going to the east coast to the West Coast I love the ocean I love it and I love visiting lighthouses but you know it would be like turning on a lighthouse only when there was a storm and many times that's how we handled prayer in regards to praying for elections we're going to the storm the election is the storm and so we're going

to turn our light on then and do it but then that's no good because because there are other dangers that Lighthouse is there because it needs to warn the ships that there's land there or there's rocks there and you could be in trouble you don't need a storm to be in trouble you just have darkness and it's going to we're going to have trouble we live in darkness and we're the we just carrying light so the light has to be on all the time the salt has to be going out all the time you know flavoring the nation all the time I said this yesterday in uh in our prayer call I was talking about the fruit of the spirit and it occurred to me you know what that the fruit of

the Spirit isn't just for our benefit it's just not for the benefit of us in our house and our family in our local church the fruit of the spirit actually nourishes those that are around you can you imagine that I was thinking about that thing yeah love joy peace patience self-control all that stuff that nourishes those around you what it does is it glorifies God it's the Good Deeds it's the good works it's those things and glorifies God around you and it actually nourishes those around you I I I I used to work in finance and um and before we came into this role and people would say to me all the time you know I go we go on vacation and they'd say Chris we hate it when you go on

vacation and I'd say why cuz when you're not here it's chaotic it's not peaceful and I would say to them oh well do you know why it's peaceful they say no why well Jesus lives here and you can have this peace you don't have to just you know wait for me to show up you can have this peace too you can have Jesus residing in you too and I made an impact where I was wherever I worked whether I was preaching working at a church or being biocal and working bivocational and working in other places you know it's you're supposed to be carrying the kingdom of God it's supposed to be peaceful for you where you go it's a supposed to be joyous where you go there's supposed to be

righteousness where you go there's supposed to be the fruit of the spirit wherever you go because what it does it glorifies God and it points men and women to Jesus so I want to just remind you that we are the church right if we're doing our job this flows Downstream to government that's why it's important for you uh to connect with your MP not just when when there's an election called but you should doesn't matter what part what part of the end you should be connecting with them you should be telling them that you're praying you should be telling them and I would even say hey why don't you volunteer because you can what do you mean oh you don't volunteer for whatever

party go in and volunteer be Salt and Light in their constituency office let let the love of Jesus rub off on them because that's what we're carrying if you want a culture if you you want to change things Downstream you have to get in the water it's just as simple as that you have to get in the water if you want to change things Downstream anyway I'm Chris fber the director of the national House of Prayer and we will see you next time bye for now [Music]
