Hi there, it's Marilyn Byberg from the National House of Prayer in Ottawa. With the election in full swing, there's a lot of talk about politics. Many are anxious about what will happen if the wrong party wins on April 28th. You know what? God is not worried. He's not ringing his hands over election results. His kingdom does not rise or fall based on governments. It is built on his people. That's you and me. God is sovereign over all rulers, both the righteous and the unrighteous. The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord. Like the rivers of water, he turns it wherever he wants. Throughout history, God has used pagan kings like Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, and Cyrus to fulfill his purposes.
Jesus reminded Pilate, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you." As the church, our mandate is clear. We're called to proclaim the gospel, not place our hope in political systems. The spirit of the sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and to release from darkness the prisoners. While governments are responsible for maintaining order, they cannot do what the church is called to do. Mark Carney and his liberals cannot heal the brokenhearted. Pure Polyv and the conservatives cannot set captives free. It is the church that can do this
because we are carriers of Jesus empowered by his spirit. This is our mandate. As citizens of the kingdom, we are also called to be salt and light in the world. A moral compass that influences culture and society. Our role is not to withdraw from society but to actively engage. Bringing the love, truth, and values of the kingdom into every area of life, including politics. We're to be a voice of wisdom, justice, and righteousness in the public sphere, shaping decisions that affect the well-being of our nation. As citizens of Canada, we are not to shy away from our responsibility to vote, to participate in the process, and to help get out the vote. It is part of our
calling as stewards of the society in which we live. Our vote is a powerful tool for influencing the direction of our nation. And it is our responsibility to use it wisely. We're not just voting for a political party. We are voting for policies and and leaders that best align with our biblical values which reflect God's heart for justice, mercy, life, and dignity. It is our responsibility to use this opportunity wisely, faithfully, and prayerfully. I'm Marilyn Byberg with the National House of Prayer, and we'll see you next time. Bye for now. [Music]
