Building a war chest in prayer

[Music] hi everybody it's Chris bber the director of the national House of Prayer coming to you today from Ottawa well welcome to 2024 what a fantastic year 23 was we did so many things so many great things so many great Partnerships so many big things happening in the nation and thank you once again for those of you who partnered with us in prayer in financing thank you you we really really appreciate it we can't do this without you so anyway um we're into 2024 some big things that are happening in 2024 there are a couple of provincial elections there may even Federal one coming up yet just never know and so let me talk to you today about a war chest you know building a war chest when I was

involved in politics when I sat on electoral District associations or edas or sometimes are also known as writing Association so I was the president of one I was VP on others I sat on multiple boards at multiple times the primary job of an Eda joining an Eda was that uh we were preparing a war chest to go into the next election so essentially after one election after an election is finished the very next day the job of the Eda is to get ready for the next election uh whether it's a 4-year period or like with us we've had two minority governments so it's a matter of getting prepared for that next election starting right after that applies with us to in prayer so often we

see um one of my this one of my pet thieves just you know I'm going to share this be vulnerable um when we see an election come up I I see this all the time and like get the day before or 2 days or 4 days before an election all of a sudden there is a an alert to get on the wall and start praying for the election well you need to realize that you need to get out of this right away the day after election is when you start praying for the next election that's how we handle this that's the wisest way because there's so many moving parts for example um we're in January and February this is when many of the edas that are out there electoral District associations they will be having their

agms or annual General meetings this is where they elect their governing body their VPS their their uh their chairs for finances those things all this happens at the beginning part of the Year this is a great time for you to get involved if you're a card carrying member of any party you are invited to come to your local Eda in your writing and I would suggest you go even if you go just to pray I'm I'm going to go to mine my member is Pierre poab lucky me and so his AGM is I think is around the 15th of January Marilyn and I will be going going to pray going to listen going to hopefully have a chance to meet the member and just talk to him what I will say is listen just to reminder I'm

praying for you that's what we do so you could do this at this at the AGM think of it put in your cend calendar figure out when it is and do this but when we start praying right away for for the election because there's a lot of moving Parts in election it's not a matter of just showing up you know right now there are many many seats that don't have or many many writings that don't have candidates this is why we should be praying this is why you should be going to all the candidate meetings finding about who's running in your writing that might be on your favorite team where you're inclined to vot but you should be going to those things and finding out this is when we pray this is

this is when we pray people in I me tell you a story there was um there was this uh one uh one of our team members um didn't actually like his candidate and he said to me I don't like this person they're not pro lifee what am I going to do and they got in he was he was going for a pro-life guy and that person didn't make make it as a candidate and uh to run in in their writing so I said you still pray and so you know he's been praying this both him and his wife who been praying for this candidate and certain doors have opened up and they started to do some amazing things like when that candidate who actually became a member um they used would do good things he would write them a little note

and say thank you for doing what you're doing you're doing a great job when they did really wonderful things he'd tell them didn't only just complain like many of us do so too often we just see you know we're mad at our our Member of Parliament they haven't done this and that so we complain don't do that when they do good things tell them they're doing great things and tell them you're praying for them and I'll tell you something for this one particular person that door opened up in the biggest biggest way and we can see even though this candidate wasn't a Believer it's well on their way we're seeing this we're seeing them relate to certain things we're seeing their hearts change

we're seeing them actually pray and bring in righteous righteous legislation that is prif even though they were pro-choice interesting so this is why we pray this is why we get in in the beginning so here we are the front of the Year possibly two provincial elections Maybe One Federal now is the time we pray now is the time we engage engage at the AGM engage with the Eda engage in these areas so that we can bring in the right people I'm Chris bber the director of the national House of Prayer and we will see you next time bye friend [Music]
