In Canada, as in many places, political divides have become deeply polarizing, even within the church. Some believers lean left, others right, yet no political party fully represents the Kingdom of God. Still, Christians can fall...

Hi everybody, Brad Fedler again with the National House of Prayer with another prayer point for this election cycle is here. Um, today I want to pray from John 13:35. It's a pretty well-known verse where Jesus in the upper room says to the disciples, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another." It's John 13:35. And um I want to pray this way for the body of Christ in Canada because uh you know we've seen in culture over the over the last couple decades how polarizing everything's become between you know the right and the left and the church is not immune from that. We have there are large parts of the church that that vote

uh in a left-leaning way and there are large part portions of the church that vote in a right leaning way. And uh you know something I found in looking at you know at both sides is that there is no party in Canada that speaks for the kingdom of God. There is no party in Canada that speaks for the kingdom of God. And so and yet Christians often we'll get into you know just heard it in the US election just last year group saying you can't be a Christian and vote for this party or for that party. And uh you know those are those are pretty big statements to make. Um you know my sense is that Christians on both sides of the aisle have different values that do

align with the kingdom of God that they uphold. And again no party has it all right. And so my prayer is that uh the church would continue to be the church um even across political divides. The kingdom of God is above the politics of man. Um, and frankly, we need salt and light. We need believers in every political party, in every political circle in Canada, not just one or the other. And so, uh, you know, I'd also encourage you to read James chapter 2, the first nine verses. It's talking about the rich and the poor. But James is very clear that partiality is a sin and that treating, you know, one group of Christians that that vote differently from us to treat them worse than the

ones who do vote like us, uh, that's a sin. James flat out calls it a sin. And so my prayer is that the church would would have love for one another even where there are political differences. um and uh you know that the world would see that we are his disciples by the love we have for one another especially in the context of political differences where the rest of the world struggles to maintain love for one another in that sense. So father today I ask for the Christians in Canada for your body in Canada. Um, Father, would you help us to have love for one another even in the midst of disagreements and even in the midst of of debates and and viewing things differently, viewing things from

a different way. Um, Jesus, you said it clearly. If we love one another, the world would know that we're your disciples. And father, again, would we put your kingdom, the um the testimony of your name, the witness of your name, may we put that above our politics in this season. Father, we just ask for grace for your church to love one another across political lines um to be a a faithful, steadfast witness to who you are um in these days and in our culture. So, yes, God, give us the grace to love one another in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Bless you guys. We'll see you again tomorrow with another prayer point. [Music]
