so just to kind of wrap it up and summarize it I'll just say about this prayer I love it because it has two of my favorite phrases to pray like just just easy to remember I love praying that our love would abound more and more it's just an easy phrase to remember and it's fun to pray just pray praying for whoever it is that I'm praying for that their love would abound more and more and the second part of that they would approve things that are excellent they would approve what is good so we see this these three parts in this prayer for love to abound would love to abound so that they would love things that he loves that we would love righteousness Psalm 45 verse 7 said of Jesus it's a
Messianic psalmist said you love righteousness and hate wickedness it's this thing of your values align with your fathers and then the that continues on and says therefore God has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than all your companions it was actually a source of joy in Jesus life that his values aligned with his fathers and so we want that same thing love to abound that we would approve of the things that he approves of and the third part of it so that their lives would produce righteous fruit which glorifies God more than gifts more like more than the gifts of the Spirit more than signs and wonders more than whatever else the fruit of the spirit in
our life glorifies God more than anything else and uh it's this prayer just for that progression and something that's kind of neat about that is we see in this we see Paul's understanding of the Gospel is not just that he would get these people saved and that's it but it's that salvation is the starting point alone and it's that our love would then increase we would start to our values would change we would love what he loves and that we would grow up into the stature of Christ that we would bear the fruit that Christ bore in his life those fruits of the spirit this is the gospel of the Kingdom it's complete transformation it's that we would love the God we once hated it's that we would
approve of things we once resisted and that we would bear fruit that is completely the opposite of what we used to bear it's a complete transformation of our entire lives and that's we see that track through this verse the love the god you once hated you'd approve of things you once resisted and you'd bear completely different fruit that's really attractive really tasty
